Best Friends

Best Friends St PiusX. I recommend this video because a girl is singing and the boys are just bullying her. Her friends come and tell the boys to get lost. The girl who was singing had to be brave to sing in the talent quest. You have to believe in what you do.

Dear Mrs Baker

I am nominating my father,Pila leuta for "caught being good dad award" because my DAD is an awesome dad.

He lets me go to school games and provides lunch for me and the other family members. He is always working day and night but he is always happy to see us at home helping him.He only gets the weekends off. He helps me with my homework and helps me with my spelling and with maths. He helps me learn more things.

I think my dad should get this award because he always provides for the family and helps us when we are in need of clothes, shoes, and anything else we need.He tells us to keep strong.
He has always been there for me from when my biological father and my mum separated. He was there for me even when his family was trying to take him away from us. He still kept on  fighting and fighting until they just let go of him and got on with their life and just left us to be a happy family.

These are the reasons why my father should be awarded this award.

Yours sincerely

Jacob Fifita

Touch

Monday 15 October 2012

L.I Learning to write a recount on my holidays.

In the holidays i played touch with my friends and brothers. It was at 12.30 to 1.00 we played. it was on a Sunday morning after church and so we were playing until youth started.

The activity we played was touch. 2 on 2 touch there was five of us but only 2 on each side so it can be even. We were laughing because someone catches the ball and then when they are running they drop because they can't hold the ball properly because there was no grip. On one side there was 2 small people and on the other side there was 2 tall people this was funny because the 2 small people was beating the other people on the other side. So they were getting angry cause we were getting all the tries and they only got one try and that was the only point they had.

So when we finished playing touch because it was nearly time to go youth we had go back into the church but we carried it on from after youth and the 2 tall people which were Jordan, Arthur had been getting heaps of tries so we had the ball and we kicked up so high that we were waiting for it to come down and when it did we caught the ball and got a try and so we were winning it was nearly time to go so we said last try wins so they kicked it Jordan and Arthur we had a plan to get the last try and we did so we won and the other team came second.

We had a fun day playing touch with my friends and brothers and i hope we could carry it on next sunday and i am sure that we will win again.

The Museum

On Tuesday 30 October 2012 we went to the museum. Some of us went in the van and some of us went in the bus. We left school at 10.00 and headed our way to the museum. The trip was for the whole school even the teachers. We went there for a reason and the reason was to go and look at the carving and look at all sorts of plants and some that aren’t plants.

When we got to the museum we were split into 6 groups 2 from each class. In those groups were teachers with them and each group went to different places some went to the fernery and some went in the museum to look at the whare-(house)  and also we got booklets, In those booklets were some questions and information about plants, carvings in the house, animals we needed to find answers on the Marae.

In the fernery was some fishes, tad ponds, frogs, some plants, and there were even silver ferns and all sorts of trees like cabbage tree, vines sticking out and even a nikau tree. There korus there the was even a bamboo, After certain times we would swap one group goes to their spot and they go to our spot and so we rotated around and we came to pass a place with fish in it and there wasn’t just one fish there was many they were gold fish. After that we went into this hot house where there is some plants there that smell nice and some plants that don’t smell nice or even don’t have a smell.  But in the hot house were some lily’s and under that were some tad ponds and we even saw some awesome frogs some were big and some were small.

We had to answer questions on the booklet about plants like what plant has the best smell?, not so good smell?, and which one is your favourite and why? and we had some on the lily pad’s what is the width of one lily pad and why do flowers have so bright colours?. We also got to feed the tad ponds we got some of their food and we gave it to them. We had so much fun looking all sorts of different plants, trees, fishes, and flowers.

In the museum we saw some Maori people doing the haka and some taking photos. Some of us were asking for information and some asked to say who is the carving on top and why is he their. We also asked who is the ancestral figure on the carving on another whare the meeting house. We had to take off our shoes in case of dirt and respect. When we got inside we saw many carvings and many tuku tuku mats beside it and each mat means something.

After that we had to go back to the bus and go to school cause we finished and when we got back we just got to our class and do some work. Then the day was over.

Haka waiata

Last weekend on Saturday we had a performance day. We made Saturday a school day unlike every other Saturday. People came at 11.00, some 12.30 or some came at 1.00 but at least some came. We started off with some sports like Three legged race, roll the hoop, wheel barrow, sack race, ski race, and then gumboot throw, and then the last game was ziggy Marley. After that everybody had a lolly scramble except for the students of Tamaki Intermediate.

We had to get changed into our costumes for the performance during the lolly scramble we had some sausage sizzles for us to eat and ice blocks or ice creams. After everybody got into the hall house by house went in and had to sit down until everybody was there. The first thing was that we done the karakia and then calliope house had to perform first because it goes C-O-L-A. The first was mass than girls then mix then the boys every house can do it differently but we done ours in a way to make it simple. After calliope finished Orpheus performed then Leander the Achilles after that it was "PRIZE TIME" each trophy was either for boys, girls, mass, Maori, mix, single, and leader, the only houses that got trophies was Calliope and Leander and a chocolate bar for Orpheus because their  was only 1 girl there. So afterwards we had some photos taken and then got changed to go home but we had ice cream and ice blocks to eat on the way. And the Haka Waiata finished at 5.30 pm.

Overall we had heaps of fun.
